Jute Light 2020
Jute Light is made of 50% industrial waste from the flooring industry. The lampshade is made out of jute fibre and gypsum, emerged from the Jute Tile project. This natural fibre is the only waste material in the production process of Forbo's linoleum. By working with this waste material, linoleum becomes a zero-waste product. Gypsum, like glass, is endlessly recyclable. At the end of its life, the lampshade of the Jute Light is fully recyclable. In our Rotterdam studio we transform the material back to its raw matter: gypsum powder. With this recycled gypsum we work on other new designs. Jute Light is exclusively available at Vij5.
